Point clouds to understand the state of virtual film production scene?

With this “short” headline, we conclude week 10. Morten and Tom-Robert at IFE have worked on concrete suggestions for carrying out the first test for scanning objects on a hypothetical film set.

The test forms the basis for detecting changes and displacements on a scene, that is, understanding the state of a virtual film production scene.

We are covering three techniques in this test.
1. Lidar and laser
2. Photogrammetry
3. Depth camera

Morten og Simen går gjennom test alternativer, teknologi og metode

There are many work meetings. Malin, Guri, and Simen are going through changes in the application for submission to the Norwegian Research Council. Financing plans are being double-checked, and partner agreements are being reviewed.

Several technical meetings have also been conducted this week with Atea, LedHub, and Netron, among others. They met Nextron (yes, remarkably similar) to explore various hardware options for a large-scale test to be conducted later in the project.

Generally, there are many parallel discussions and conversations across industries with everyone from the previously mentioned suppliers to production companies. We are also starting to form a certain picture of what kind of service/technology is of interest to industry players internationally. This has implications for priorities, technology choices, and the design of the service so that it becomes accessible to the industry. What should the final end product be?
